Fairy Tales Coloring Pages
Welcome to my fairy tales coloring pages!
Fairy tales are some of the oldest stories we have. Most were told out loud for hundreds of years before anyone wrote them down, which is why the same tale can turn up with a different ending in every country. Here you'll find the classics along with a few legends and storybook favourites.
Aladdin
Aladdin actually had two genies. Before he ever rubbed the lamp, a wizard gave him a magic ring with a smaller genie of its own, and that ring is what got him out when he was trapped in the cave...
Alice in Wonderland
Alice was a real girl. Lewis Carroll made up the story during a boat trip to keep ten-year-old Alice Liddell and her sisters entertained, and she liked it so much she begged him to write it down...Alice in Wonderland coloring pages
Cinderella
Cinderella may be one of the oldest stories in the world. In a version told in ancient Egypt, an eagle snatched a girl's sandal and dropped it right in the pharaoh's lap, and he searched the whole kingdom for the foot that fit it...
Elena, the Firebird and the Grey Wolf
The Firebird comes from old Russian fairy tales, and its feathers glowed so bright that a single one could light up a dark room. Every night it snuck into the tsar’s garden to steal his golden apples, so the tsar’s youngest son set off to catch it. He never guessed the journey would lead him to a talking grey wolf and a princess named Elena the Beautiful...Elena and the Grey Wolf coloring pages
Fairies
Long before fairies were tiny and sparkly, people were a little nervous about them. In Ireland and Britain folks called them "the Good People" so they wouldn't cause offence, and a bowl of milk left by the door helped keep them friendly...
Fairy Tale Castles and Storybook Houses
Not every fairy tale home is a castle with tall towers. One sits on a cloud at the top of a beanstalk, and another strolls around the Russian forest on a pair of chicken legs...Fairy tale castle and house coloring pages
Fairy Tale Love Stories
Not every fairy tale romance starts with a handsome prince. In Beauty and the Beast the hero is stuck under a spell, and Beauty grows to love him for his kindness long before she finds out who he really is...Fairy tale love story coloring pages
Hansel and Gretel
In the Brothers Grimm story the witch's house was made of bread, with a roof of cake and windows of clear sugar. German bakers loved the idea so much that gingerbread houses became a Christmas tradition...Hansel and Gretel coloring pages
Jack and the Beanstalk
A cow traded for a handful of beans sounds like a terrible deal, until the beans grow into a stalk that reaches a castle in the clouds. Jack climbs it more than once, and each time he comes home with something the giant would much rather have kept...Jack and the Beanstalk coloring pages
King Arthur
Before he was a king, Arthur was a boy nobody had heard of, raised far away from the royal court. Then he pulled a sword out of a stone that every knight in the land had already failed to budge...
The Little Mermaid
Hans Christian Andersen's mermaid isn't only looking for love. In his story the sea folk live for three hundred years but don't have souls that last forever, and she gives up her voice for the chance at one...
The Little Red Hen
The Little Red Hen asks her friends for help at every step, from planting the wheat to baking the bread, and gets the same answer every time. "Not I!" So when the warm loaf finally comes out of the oven, guess who suddenly wants a slice...
Little Red Ridinghood
The oldest versions of this story don't have a red hood at all. A French writer named Charles Perrault gave her the famous red cape in 1697, and it stuck so well that it became her name...Little Red Ridinghood coloring pages
Peter Pan
Peter Pan first showed up as a baby. In an early book by J.M. Barrie, he's just seven days old when he flies out of his nursery window to go and live with the birds in Kensington Gardens...
Peter Rabbit and Friends
Beatrix Potter really did have a pet rabbit named Peter, and he could do tricks. She first told his story in a picture letter to a little boy who was sick in bed, years before it ever became a book...
Rapunzel
Rapunzel is named after a salad green. Before she was born, her mother craved the rampion growing in the witch's garden so badly that her father climbed the wall to steal some, and that's how all the trouble started...
Robin Hood
People have been telling Robin Hood stories for more than 600 years, and the earliest ones don't have Maid Marian in them at all. She joined the Merry Men later through the plays and games people put on to celebrate May Day...
Rumpelstiltskin
Rumpelstiltskin can spin straw into gold, but the one thing he can't stand is someone knowing his name. The miller's daughter has three days to guess it or give up her baby...Rumpelstiltskin coloring pages
Shakespeare
In Shakespeare's day women weren't allowed on stage, so every part was played by men and boys. That means the very first Juliet was a teenage boy in a long dress...
Sinbad the Sailor
Sinbad went on seven voyages and lost his ship on nearly every one of them. On his very first trip the crew landed on a peaceful little island and lit a fire, only to find out the island was actually a sleeping whale...
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty didn't nap for a hundred years all by herself. In the French version, the good fairy put the whole castle to sleep with her, from the cooks and the guards right down to her little dog, so she wouldn't wake up alone...Sleeping Beauty coloring pages
The Snow Queen
The Snow Queen starts with a troll's magic mirror that shatters into millions of tiny splinters. When one lands in a boy's eye and another in his heart, he stops seeing anything good in the world, and that's when the Snow Queen comes for him...
Snow White
The magic mirror in Snow White can't tell a lie. That's the whole problem, because every time the queen asks who's the fairest of them all, it gives her an honest answer she really doesn't want to hear...
Thumbelina
Thumbelina is born inside a flower and is no bigger than a thumb. She sleeps in a polished walnut shell, but one night a toad hops in through the window and carries her off to marry his son...
The Ugly Duckling
Lots of people think The Ugly Duckling is really Hans Christian Andersen's own story. He grew up poor and was teased for being tall and gangly, and he grew up to be one of the most famous storytellers in the world...
The Wizard of Oz
In the book, Dorothy's magic shoes are silver. The 1939 film switched them to ruby red to show off its brand-new colour film, and now hardly anyone remembers they were ever silver...
Zorro
Don Diego de la Vega was a rich young man in old California who seemed to care about nothing but books and naps. Everyone thought he was a bit of a bore, which was exactly what he wanted. At night he put on a black mask and cape and rode out as Zorro, which means "fox" in Spanish, to stand up for people who were being treated unfairly by greedy officials. He'd slash a quick Z with his sword so everyone knew who'd been there, then vanish before anyone could catch him. Nobody ever suspected sleepy Don Diego.
