Lucha Libre
From Mexico, lucha libre features colorful masks, acrobatic moves, and high-flying maneuvers. Luchadores (wrestlers) are heroes in stories and films, and the masks often represent animals, gods, or legends.

Fun fact: Lucha libre masks are so important that losing one in a match is a big deal for a wrestler’s identity!

In lucha libre, the mask isn’t just part of a costume — it’s a symbol of the wrestler’s character, legacy, and honor. If a wrestler loses a match where the stipulation is “losing your mask,” they must remove it permanently in front of the audience. This is considered a huge moment because it reveals their true identity and can change their career or persona.
