Transformers are robots that can change into vehicles, planes, or other objects while still keeping their robotic abilities. Some are heroes, like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, while others are villains, like Megatron. They often battle each other, showing teamwork, strategy, and the differences between good and evil.
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots, a faction of heroic robots from the planet Cybertron in the Transformers franchise. He transforms into a red-and-blue semi truck, and he's known for his courage, compassion, and sense of duty. He leads the Autobots in their war against the Decepticons, protecting Earth and its people. His catchphrase is "Autobots, roll out!" and his ideals of freedom and standing up for the weak have made him one of the most recognizable characters in pop culture since the 1984 toy line and cartoon.
Bumblebee
Bumblebee is a small, loyal Autobot in the Transformers franchise, best known as the team's scout and the friendliest face among them. He usually transforms into a yellow Volkswagen Beetle in the original cartoon, and a yellow-and-black Chevrolet Camaro in the live-action films. He's brave and quick-thinking, and often serves as the Autobots' main connection to humans. In many versions he can't speak normally and communicates through radio clips, which has become one of his defining traits.
Megatron
Megatron is the ruthless leader of the Decepticons, the villainous faction in the Transformers franchise and the Autobots' main enemy. He started the war on Cybertron in his quest to seize control of the planet's energy and, later, Earth's. In the original cartoon he transforms into a Walther P38 handgun, while in the live-action films he becomes a Cybertronian jet or tank. He's power-hungry, cunning, and brutal, but he's also a strong strategist, and his long rivalry with Optimus Prime is the central conflict of the series. Despite his many defeats, he always comes back, and his arm-mounted fusion cannon is one of his signature weapons.
Jetfire
Jetfire is a veteran Autobot air commander in the Transformers franchise, known for his wisdom, age, and stubborn pride. In the original 1980s toy line he's a white-and-red jet, a redesign of the Japanese Macross VF-1 Valkyrie fighter, and he's also called Skyfire in some versions of the story. In the live-action film Revenge of the Fallen he's a very old, cranky Decepticon-turned-Autobot who transforms into a black SR-71 Blackbird and helps Optimus Prime and the team. He's brave and knowledgeable about Cybertron's ancient history, and his mix of grumpiness and loyalty makes him a fan favorite.
